About CiNii:
CiNii(Scholarly and Academic Information Navigator, pronounced like "sigh-knee") is a database service which can be searched with academic information of Articles, Books, Journals & Dissertations.
- "CiNii Articles" enables you to search information on academic articles published in academic society journals, university research bulletins or articles included in the National Diet Librarys Japanese Periodicals Index Database.
- "CiNii Books" enables you to search information of books and journals held by university libraries in Japan.
- "CiNii Dissertations" enables you to search information on dissertations written for doctoral degrees in Japan conferred by Japanese Universities and the National Institute for Academic Degrees and University Evaluation.

About CiNii Articles:
CiNii Articles is a database service which can search of information on academic articles published in academic society journals, university research bulletins or articles included in the National Diet Librarys Japanese Periodicals Index Database and databases.

Features of CiNii Articles:
- Large volume of article information: Refer to CiNii Articles Incorporated Databases list for the number of articles in CiNii. Articles from different databases that have duplicate information are displayed as a single article.
- Access to full text documents: CiNii Articles enables you to search desired articles and obtain the full text of the article. We are keeping improving to be able to reach more articles by cooperation with other services.
- Displays citation information: Based on this citation information (References / Cited by), users can track down related articles.

About CiNii Books:
CiNii Books is a service that enables searching of information on books and journals that are held in university libraries in Japan.
It is possible to search for about 10 million titles held in 1200 university libraries (totaled over 100 million books), and about 1.5 million authors of these books that has been accumulated through the online cataloging system (NACSIS-CAT) which NII provides.

Features of CiNii Books:
- CiNii Books contains wide variety of books - recent books, classics, foreign books, CD, DVD, etc.
- Users can check the list of libraries in Japan holding the books or journals they are searching for. It is possible to retrieve it by limiting specific areas and libraries.
- Directly linking to the OPAC (Online Public Access Catalog) page of university libraries from book or journal page enables users to search for the details such as whether it is available now.
- If these full texts are provided in CiNii Articles, users can follow the link to the full text documents.

CiNii Dissertations is a database service that lets you search for information on dissertations written for doctoral degrees in Japan conferred by Japanese Universities and the National Institute for Academic Degrees and Quality Enhancement of Higher Education.
The search function uniformly covers dissertations made available in repositories of universities and other academic institutions in Japan as well as those archived in the National Diet Library.

Features of CiNii Dissertations:
- Users can search from one place for approximately 600,000 dissertations in Japan.
- If the full text of the paper has been digitally archived and made available, links are provided for viewing the text.
